Trek History: New as 9-8 in 2020; 9-8 in 2021-22; 9-7 in 2023; 9-2 in 2024-25; 9-5 in 2026

This Central and North Country trek is ideal for crews wanting to explore the rich history of Philmont with a great mix of hiking and opportunity for program. Traverse the 2018 Ute Park fire recovery zone to try your hand at shotgun and learn about fire ecology and wildlife conservation. Cross the beautiful ridges and canyons of the North past Black Jack's famous hideout, and into the Ponil Country for a hearty Chuckwagon dinner and campfire show at the Philturn Five Points Camp. Hike over Hart Peak and find yourself in North Ponil Canyon, filled with pre-historic petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks!

Per the Guidebook to Itineraries: "Due to potential emergencies, such as catastrophic fires, Crews must not deviate from their assigned itinerary. Changes are only permitted for bona fide medical emergencies and must be approved in advance by the Logistics Department."
