2024 Virtual Tour

A word about the Virtual Tour

The Virtual Tour can be a bit of a spoiler depending on how it is used. For instance if a participant plays it in the days leading up to the trek, the element of surprise and discovery might be lost. It can be useful in communicating to participants the flavor of the trek during trek selection or by family and friends while on the trail. Ultimately this is your choice to make.

Notes:

The virtual tour is heavily dependent on the number and diversity of photos in the database. Typically each day of a trek is displayed as a series of photos: A introduction photo typically titled 'Hike to...' followed by a photo for each program feature and closed with a campsite photo. The tour logic attempts to find unique photos for each step that illustrate the activity at the location, but may substitute photos of the activity at a different location if no photo is available with the combination of location and activity specified. This is intended as I'd rather show the activity than nothing at all.

Finally if there is only one photo available for a campsite location, it will be displayed as both the campsite photo and the introduction photo.

If you have a better or another photo that you think would improve the tour, I'd love to have it ... contact me via the comments page.
