2026 description: 'This Central and North Country trek is ideal for crews wanting to explore the rich history of Philmont with a great mix of hiking and opportunity for program. Traverse the 2018 Ute Park fire recovery zone to try your hand at shotgun and learn about fire ecology and wildlife conservation. Cross the beautiful ridges and canyons of the North past Black Jack's famous hideout, and into the Ponil Country for a hearty Chuckwagon dinner and campfire show at the Philturn Five Points Camp. Hike over Hart Peak and find yourself in North Ponil Canyon, filled with pre-historic petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks!'

2025 description: 'This itinerary provides plenty of opportunity for program while exploring the impacts of wildfire on the landscape. You'll start by traversing the 2018 Ute Park Fire scar culminating in your reforestation project at Cimarroncita. From there you'll cross over ridges, past Black Jack's famous hideout, and into the Ponil Country, a landscape affected by a massive fire in 2002. Hike over Hart Peak and find yourself in North Ponil Canyon, filled with pre-historic petroglyphs and dinosaur tracks!'
